Calvin Herbert Haynes was born on February 7th, 1864.  He worked in the grocery business before joining his brother Elwood at the Haynes Automobile Company as President of Auto sales.  In 1921, Haynes retired and decided to travel around the world.  This journey lasted nearly a year and stretched across four continents.  Haynes documented the trip within his photo diary, which has been passed down through the generations and has become a treasured family heirloom.

In 2009, nearly 100 years after Haynes world trip, graduate students from Ball State University digitally restored his photo diary to preserve his story so that it may be enjoyed for generations to come. Below is Haynes photos and personal observations from his travels.
